Design
The Rode VideoMic GO is a shotgun microphone, longer than one of Rode’s previous VideoMicro and with a narrower audio pickup. What this means is that unlike other microphones that pick up sound from every direction, this mic will blur out anything it is not pointing towards. The mic makes use of a super cardioid polar pattern to focus on the front while blurring out any other direction.
Features
The mic entirely depends on plug in power and keeping the device simple it has no external buttons or switches. Thanks to this, you do not need to worry about any batteries or recharging. The mic will last in the field as long as you do. You get a shock mount within the box which helps to reduce any noise or distortion from vibrations. The mount can be easily attached to all cameras as it has a camera shoe mount. The windscreen is quite good which makes this an excellent mic for outdoor and windy conditions.
Connectivity
There is a 3.5mm TRS coiled cable that can be easily attached to the camera. The cable is also a dual-mono so you don’t need to configure anything. The signal is sent identically to both channels of your recording device.
