Sony A6100 Overview

Sony A6100: The New Entry Level Champ

If you’re out in the market looking for a lightweight and travel-friendly camera that’s not too heavy on the pocket, the Sony A6100 is just the right choice. Recently announced by Sony, the A6100 is definitely going to prove to be a favorite for many, because it ticks so many boxes. This camera is the optimal mixture of value and performance.

Features:

Like the rest of the alpha series, the Sony A6100 also has a 24.2 MP APS-C Exmor CMOS sensor along with a BIONZ X image processor. The sensor is well built to provide crisp image quality and broad light sensitivity of ISO 100-32000 which you can take up to 51200 if needed. The sensor features a newer design that is aided by copper wiring and enhanced circuit processing to help with gathering light and reducing noise at the same time. In case of continuous shots, you get up to 11 fps with AF.

Autofocus:

The A6100 is very strong when it comes to its autofocus. The 4D focus system almost covers the entire sensor area, with 425 phase-detection points and 425 contrast-detection points. This means that the A6100 can focus on its subject as quick as 0.02 seconds. The A6100 has High-density Tracking AF thanks to the high density of focus points. This gives it the ability to precisely focus on fast-moving objects. With Real-time Eye AF, the camera can quickly focus on the subject’s eyes, in case of portraits. Focus peaking has also been provided for more accurate focusing while using manual focus.

Video:

The Sony A6100 has video recording capabilities up to 4K UHD for up to 30 fps. It has a super 35mm recording area and a resolution of 6K which captures much more detail than simple 4K recording. Since there is no pixel binning videos come out with vivid details. Other video resolutions include 1080p HD which give up frame rates up to 120 fps. This gives you amazing slow-motion videos up to 4x and 5x with frame rates at either 24fps or 30 fps. Both 4K and 1080p resolutions make use of the 100 Mbps XAVC S format with 4:2:0 sampling. There is also the option of recording via an external recorder via the external HDMI output with 4:2:2 sampling.
