Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 6K
If you have been a fan of the previously hailed Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, there is some really good news for you. Blackmagic just announced the Pocket Cinema Camera 6K. Building on all of the good features of the previous model and giving you the extra boost in quality and lenses with their newer model.
The biggest change is obvious, in the front of the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera now sits a Super 35mm sensor instead of the micro four-thirds in the previous model. This gives you that extra space to shoot video 6K HDR video. The camera also has 13 stops of dynamic range, similar to the previous model but that still means you get brilliant control over tones and transitions. With a dual native ISO range that goes up to 25600, you get superior low light performance. The next best thing about the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera however is the new Canon EF mount. This is good news for a lot of people, who already have an array of Canon full frame lenses. They get to choose from one of the widest ranges of professional lenses for their shots.
The super 35 mm HDR sensor means you get to record a resolution of 6144 x 3456 at a 50 fps. There are other resolution options as well, such as 6144 x 2560 or 6K 2.4:1, 5.7K at 5744 x 3024, 4K DCI and HD 1080p. Thanks to the larger EF mount lenses you can now produce cinematic shots with a shallow depth of field. This means you get that gorgeous photographic bokeh in your videos. Thanks to the high resolution you can shoot 6K and crop and adjust the frame in post production to allow for zoomed shots and close ups. All with the help of a single camera and virtually no loss in image quality. Its not just the power of the camera alone, the Pocket Cinema Camera 6K comes with DaVinci resolve 16.1 that is packed with all the features you need to professionally edit your footage.
The body of the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K is constructed from a carbon fiber polycarbonate composite. This makes it both very durable and lightweight. Placed on the grip of the camera are buttons for all the essential functions you want to keep in check while shooting. These include the ISO, shutter-speed and white balance. At the back of the camera is a 5 inch touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. This screen helps to navigate through the controls as well is monitor what you are shooting. You have slots for CFast 2.0 cards and a USB-C output in case you want to directly record to an external drive.
