Fujifilm X-H1: The Mid Range Flagship

Another one of Fujifilm’s great releases during the 2018 has been the Fujifilm X-H1, a medium ranged flagship but nonetheless extremely powerful and versatile. The successor of the X-T2 has some new features that will delight consumers

Features: 

The X-H1 comes boasting a 24.3 MP APS-C X Trans CMOS III image processor with the processing power supplied by X-processor pro engine. With this you have the power to capture sharp photos with both extremes of low light and high ISOs up to 51200. This is achieved by the exclusion of the optical low-pass filter. The X-trans design is better producing the most natural colors and tonal graduations, while also keeping aliasing and moire to a minimal. With a blazing fast start up time of 0.4 seconds you are always ready to capture what you need. You also have a continuous shot rate of 14 fps with the electronic shutter and 8 with the mechanical one. 

Autofocus and In Body Image Stabilization: 

The autofocus on the X-H1 comprises of 325 points that are employed both for contrast and phase detection. Fuji has improved the minimum aperture of the focus from f/8 to f/11. Both the AF-C and the phase detection has been revamped. 

The X-H1 is the only camera in the X series with in body image stabilization. Its 5-axis sensor shift system. This is powerful enough to handle up to 5.5 stops of shutter speed, thereby minimizing camera shake even in some of the gloomiest of lighting conditions. This is further enhanced if you use the Fuji XF and XC lenses. The cameras electronic shutter can also be used in tandem to eliminate any left over vibrations. 

Video quality: 

Not just powerful when it comes to photography, the X-H1 has great benchmarks in video as well. With 4K video up to 30 fps at a bitrate of 200 Mb/s. Other resolutions like DCI 2K and HD 1080p at 120 fps are possible for slow motion shooting. Beyond the high resolutions there is internal F-log gamma profiles for recording video for professional color grading in the studio. The 400% of dynamic range is good for up to 12 stops of lighting detail, brilliant graduations and a more lifelike result. With HDMI external recording you have 8 bit 4:2:2 signal supported which can further enhance your results. 

Body Design: 

A sturdy design, built with 25% thicker magnesium alloy body, making the camera weather sealed and able to withstand very low temperatures. The 3.69m dot EVF gives 0.75x magnification, enough to let you see more than the image. With 100 fps refresh rate you are able to see fast moving objects. On the rear the 3.0” inch touchscreen with a 1.04 million dot resolution has a three way tilt mechanism allowing you to see in despite any viewing angle. 

The top plate incorporate dials for an enjoyable shooting experience and more control over various functions. Another 1.28” sub LCD screen is placed on the top showing the main settings to always keep track of your current settings. Dual SD card slots are a welcome feature for many professional personnel as they can make backups on the go.
